Tag Heuer is most known for its chronographs, a watch genre in which it has excelled to the point that it was making them for several of its renowned Swiss rivals, including Rolex, at one point.

The company’s founder, Édouard Heuer, was a maverick innovator and pioneer who founded his 19th-century watchmaking enterprise in St-Imier and became a significant figure in watchmaking history.

The firm went on to create clocks for planes, automobiles, and watercraft. Its advances in dashboard chronographs led to the Autavia (a combination of “automobile” and “aviation”), which became one of its most essential lines throughout the Thirties.

Carrera

Tag Heuer Carrera watches were released in 1964 to honour the Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico. It was the first chronograph developed particularly for measuring times in vehicle racing at the time.

The Carrera has spawned many variants of various sizes and dial styles, some of which employ different movements, since its debut. This 45mm model features a skeletonized dial with black and steel accents and a matching black rubber strap.

It’s driven by an in-house Heuer-02 movement with an outstanding 80-hour power reserve, which is also found in other Carrera models and specific Autavia models.

Aquaracer

The Aquaracer series debuted in 2003 as a diving tool watch, but it has acquired a following among the general public despite its status as a professional wristwatch. While some Aquaracer models use TAG Heuer’s Calibre S electromechanical chronograph movement, this edition uses quartz instead.

That means you’ll have to replace the battery at some point, but in exchange, you’ll receive accurate timekeeping and, in this case, a supercool Khaki green colour. Not to add, it’s incredibly inexpensive.

Carrera

Another Carrera, this time a Day-Date model powered by the Calibre 16 movement, based on an ETA 7750, is widely considered one of the best automatic movements ever made. This Carrera can measure 1/4 second, 30 minutes, and 12 hours and display the day and date. The brown alligator leather band with rose gold hour markings and hands is particularly appealing, giving the racing-oriented watch a touch of elegance.

Autavia

The latest generation of Autavia timepieces debuted at Baselworld 2019 to mixed reviews. The Autavia ditched its chronograph sub-dials for the first time and was offered a three-hand wristwatch for the first time.

On the other hand, TAG Heuer was praised for declaring that the Autavia will become a permanent collection rather than a model introduced on an irregular basis throughout the years.

It will come down to how you think the Autavia should appear to determine if you agree with the newest generation’s design. However, we believe it’s a great-looking watch with a lot of history, so it deserves a spot on this list.

Connected

With the debut of Connected in 2005, TAG Heuer joined the smartwatch market. It now operates on Google’s Android Wear operating system, giving it access to various apps and services.

TAG Heuer also offers its app for the watch, which allows the wearer to customize the face to look like one of its conventional analogue watches. It is, without question, the most fantastic luxury smartwatch on the market, with the ideal combination of elegance and functionality.

Carerra Senna Special Edition

Who doesn’t adore a Limited Edition timepiece? This Carerra is incredibly stunning since it honours Ayrton Senna, probably the most significant Formula One driver of all time. We hope you’ll agree that it’s a fitting tribute.

This timepiece has an ultra-premium ceramic sand-blasted case, a Heuer 02T COSC movement with a tourbillon for increased accuracy, a skeleton dial with Senna’s trademark emblem at 9 o’clock, and a picture of the great man on the open case back.

Aquaracer

TAG Heuer debuted the Aquaracer in 2020 with a bezel that looked eerily similar – yet perfectly reasonable – in blue and black. TAG gave it a blue dial with ridged accents and a sunray finish to provide a splash of colour.

It is powered by the Calibre 7 movement, which has a GMT function, and it features the same angular bezel as the other Aquaracer models (which we think makes it one of the best-looking watches TAG products).

Takeaway

Tag Heuer has ventured into the world of smartwatches. Its Connected series of modular watches offers a variety of replaceable features, including the ability to alter the appearance of faces via a touchscreen interface, as well as switch straps, lugs, and even the watch head itself. Its innovations like this put Tag Heuer on top as one of the most prestigious names in high-end precision watchmaking.
